SUMI Restaurant London

SUMI Notting Hill restaurant London

SUMI Notting Hill, a casual yet elegant sushi and Japanese restaurant in London, namely in the heart of Notting Hill, is the little sister to sushi master Endo Kazutoshi’s Michelin-starred White City restaurant, Endo at the Rotunda. Named after Endo’s mother, SUMI is led by Head Chef Yasuda Akinori, who has worked with Endo for a number of years.

SUMI Notting Hill is an independent dining restaurant in London that boosts an al fresco outdoor area and an indoor glow.

Inside there is a unique style Japandi decor with light modern furnishings, pale walls, a touch of black decor and intimate warm lighting.

A neighbourhood favourite, SUMI offers diners the unique sensory experience yet in a more relaxed setting.

The menu takes inspiration and direction from Japanese traditions, while also paying tribute to the many people, namely his mother, and places that have inspired Endo.

When it comes time to choose your dishes, the menu is divided into sections which makes choosing what to eat easier. Expect on the sushi menu to invite you to try the nigiri and sashimi, which is excellent and a must. We do think that you wont want to have sushi anywhere else again. Next up, we tried the seabass as the main, which was fresh and well sized.

We were recommended to try the ‘Japanese A4 Wagyu 100G Striploin’, served with charred puntarelle and yuzu onion sauce, this is recommended if you are not a sushi fan or even in the mood for a meaty dish.

Now, not to our surprise, the dessert menu did not disappoint, the server suggested the ‘matcha mille’ as a light ending to our gourmet meal, but be rest assured the texture is dreamy and has an unexpected ice-cream texture.
