Barts is a very discreet bar, tucked behind an inconspicuous black door of an apartment block on Sloane Avenue. This speakeasy will take you back in time to the prohibition era of 1920s America, you’ll feel so immersed to the point that you’ll feel as if you have stepped into a scene from Gatsby or Bugsy Malone.
Although small, its comic strip wall paper, mismatched furniture, taxidermy and warm lighting create a cosy and intimate space full of character. Besides this the skilful bartenders perform their skills and give you their unrequited attention in classic dress from the period.
Barts is one of the Inception Group’s venues which also includes Maggie’s, Bungatini, Bunga Bunga, Cahoots and Mr Frogg’s. These bars are dotted all over London from Chelsea to Knightsbridge to Pimlico and Marylebone; all part of the same thread, but full off individuality, giving you a range of different places to visit after your first night in Barts.
If you want to enjoy a couple of cocktails in a different environment then this is the place for you, it’s perfect all year round; besides it’s indoor area there is also a unique secret garden which is perfect for summer as it has a seasonal menu. As well as this there are a range of different drinks to choose from its consistent comic book menu known for its ‘finest yet most illicit liquors and alcoholic concoctions know to the loving lawbreakers of London’.
Specialities include their Perique Tobacco Cocktail’s such as the ‘Smoke Screen’ which is served in a Dewar’s Signature box and made with Perique Tobacco Liqueur, Dewar’s 18 Y.O. Scotch Whisky, Angostura bitters and orange and sugar.
If you’d like to enjoy a range of small bites alongside your drinks there is small sushi menu to indulge into in a tapas esc style, or for something more filling maybe try the highly recommended Jenga Jenga chips and the Pulled Pork Buns. If at the weekend you’d like to splash out why not attend a ‘Criminal’s Afternoon Tea’ held on Saturday’s at 2pm consisting of three different options starting from £35pp which include teapots full of quirky alcoholic mixtures.
They also hold a variation of different events from daily cocktail masterclasses to ‘Mountgay Moonshine Sundays’ and even a ‘Boarding School’ evening held every Monday consisting of having a drink while playing some old school games such as Cluedo and Monopoly. If you also enjoy live entertainment then this is the place for you as they hold one off gigs alongside weekly performance’s by ‘The Piano Man’, Michael Moore. So if you fancy a journey back in time full of old school cocktails and funky entertainment why not knock on their door!

He’s not the type to humble brag with his hand earnestly resting on his chest, telling you ‘how grateful and humbled’ he is in that way that makes you cringe. No, […]

The rub is that you must be a member to even order a starter, and it catered for the Olympics, US presidents and some of the most powerful people […]
