BiBi is a contemporary Indian restaurant that serves grills and chaat, all perfect for sharing. Mixing elements of the multicultural cuisine of India, home chef Chet Sharma also manages to incorporate ingredients and cooking methods from the UK. BiBi means “lady of the house,” and the ever-evolving menu illustrates the cultural heritage of Chet’s grandmothers. They’ve had a significant influence on his passion for food and cooking style.
Five sections divide de a la carte menu: snacks, chaat, sigree, sides, and dessert. The chaats are Indian street food, a collection of exotic flavors meant to share. At Bibi, raw scallop, blood orange, and Indian lemonade are an example of chaat. Raw beef sirloin and fermented peppercorns are another. Sigrees are the famous Indian grills, and here they explore flavors from the north and south of the country. The result is lobster tikka with saffron, lamb belly with coriander, and mint chutney, or green chili turbot with smoked shellfish.
The chef sources ingredients from different regions of the Indian subcontinent, blending distinctive flavors and creating sensorial profiles never seen before. A selection menu comes at a fixed price and offers a full table of dishes meant to share. Kebabs, sigree, chaat, and dessert color the table, and an explosion of flavors impress every diner.
On the inside of BiBi, find a classic Mumbai luxurious environment. An elongated bar counter sits people on copper stools decorated with printed cushions. The terracotta and beige tile floors contrast with the light blue columns, and the wooden walls and tables complement the design. Dim golden lighting shines over the small and casual dining room, and details carved on the walls highlight the delicacy and class of the place. At the outside terrace, enjoy the London breeze as you dig into Indian spices and desserts.
