Coya Mayfair transports guests to the colourful streets and restaurants of Peru through its ornately patterned interiors and cuisine made with Peruvian flavours. Arjun Waney’s success with Zuma, a high-end Japanese restaurant, prompted him to open the first Coya in a listed Georgian building in the beautiful Hyde Park area. Since then, Coya Mayfair has experienced significant success and received the award for the best Mayfair restaurant in 2016 from the TimeOut Love London Awards. The success of the Coya brand has only grown to include sister sites in Angel Court, as well as internationally in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Coya’s ethos was cultivated from experiences whilst travelling Peru. At each site guests will have a glimpse into the vibrant atmosphere and generosity that permeates the Peruvian culture.
Coya Mayfair is divided into a members’ club, a main restaurant and a Pisco Lounge & Bar. The main downstairs dining area as well as the adjacent bar are open to the public. Both spaces are inspired by Peruvian design with their jewel-tones, colourful and foliage furnishings and bright murals on the walls. The colourful interiors are elegantly paired down with contemporary art, dim lighting and metallic finishes. The Pisco Bar & Lounge is inspired by the oldest bars in Lima, and this is reflected in its celebration of everything Pisco. A great Pisco Sour perfectly balances liquor, citrus, bitters and sweetness. Coya is a master at this, but also takes it one step further by infusing their piscos with unexpected flavours. Guests can select a variety of flavoured Piscos ranging from blueberry and lavender, peach and apricot to lemongrass and cucumber. If bespoke Pisco cocktails are not something you wish to try, Coya also has over 40 premium and rare tequilas, champagne and rums to choose from. Music is a vital component to the dynamic and relaxed atmosphere at Coya. At the Pisco Lounge guests can expect to be drinking innovatively crafted cocktails whilst listening to resident DJs playing smooth electronic music with Latin influences.
Head chef, Sanjay Dwivedi is an impressive addition to the Coya Mayfair team with his culinary background as a chef at the Michelin-starred Zaika, The Ivy and Le Caprice restaurants. During Dwivedi’s travels to South America, he learned about the passionate food culture in Peru. He has used this experience to curate a truly unique menu that fuses Peruvian flavours and dishes with international cooking techniques inspired by Spanish, Japanese and Chinese culture. The result is a vibrant fusion of international flavours and ingredients that would surprise and delight even the most experienced connoisseurs. Coya seasonally updates its menu, however, guests will always find traditional ceviche, sharing plates and meat and fish dishes cooked over their charcoal grill. Guests can start off with an appetiser of crispy tiger prawns and aji rocoto, as well as small plates of Cerdo Bao made with pulled pork, chipotle and salsa criolla. For mains we recommend a traditional Peruvian sashimi dish. One our favourites is the silky slices of kingfish, dashi, truffle oil and chives. A classic Ceviche dish is also an exceptional choice with one of the standouts being the Salmon Nikkei comprised of fresh salmon, celery juice, ginger, daikon and wasabi tobiko. For guests that would prefer a meat-based dish, Coya has a broad selection with one of the best being the Solomillo de Res; a deeply smoked and lightly spiced beef fillet topped with crispy shallots rocoto chilli. At Coya, their selection of side dishes are the perfect complement to any main meal. Select a side dish of Japanese aubergines, miso and sesame to add another layer of decadence to your meal.
Coya successfully brings the spirit of Peru to London through its hosted cultural events that coincide with the equinoxes and solstices worldwide.
